Pokemon Go Tips

Pokemon Go is a game based off of  Satoshi Tajiri's classic card game Pokemon, the Pokemon go app was recently released and has taken the world by storm with players all over uniting to play, here's a few ways that you can make a positive impact while you catch em' all!

Don't Just Rescue Pokemon

On Tuesday July 13, 2016, Sara Perez and her friend Matthew Teague, decided to go to their local park in Texas with hopes of catching a few rare Pokemon characters, but what they found would save a few furry friends lives! "[Someone] left a whole bunch of hamsters in a box with no water, there was no one there in this heat!!" Quoted by Sara Perez after the discovery of 27 hamsters and small baby hamsters; when Perez and Teague found the hamsters they quickly realized that their owner was no where to be found, and that the small animals had little food and no water, they were shoved into small cages in left at the Houston park to die. Luckily Perez had different plans for these tiny friends, she decided to take them home and call ASPCA. while she waited she provided the necessities the hamsters needed to be happy and healthy! The animals have since been picked up by the ASPCA and are doing well, good job Sara and Matthew!

Shelters Will Now Let You Walk A Puppy While You Play

The way to any one's heart is through an animal, am I right? Well good news, some animal shelters will now allow you to sign up to volunteer as a dog walker, even better, you can play Pokemon Go while you walk! This is a great way to hatch all of those eggs that you have in your incubator, and help an animal that really needs you. Most shelters take volunteers through the week at your convenience, as long as you meet the requirements; generally these requirements involve you or a guardian being 18 or older, and being responsible or reliable enough to work with the animals. So what are you waiting for, you now have the perfect partner, go hatch those eggs!

Place Lure Modules At Hospitals

If you have already played Pokemon Go then you probably already know what a  Lure Module is, if you haven't discovered them yet, they attract Pokemon to a PokeStop for 30 minutes, you can buy them in the store portion of the app. The Lure Module not only benefits you, but everyone at the PokeStop, which can be really helpful in areas where people may not be able to go outside, or areas where there aren't many Pokemon. So next time you are out and about looking for Pokemon, and you happen to notice a PokeStop located at a hospital, place an extra Lure so that the children and adults that are not able to go outside can catch Pokemon too! If you happen to have extra time, go inside or to the hospital courtyard and give some good old 90's Pokemon advice to some sick kids, a selfless act that can go a long way, and bring smiles to those who need them!

Pick Stuff Up On Your Journey

The Pokemon Go game is all about your journey to catch em' all, you're supposed to get outside and walk around your town and "catch" Pokemon! One great thing about all of these players getting out is that they are realizing how important a strong sense of community is from walking around and interacting with other players, one trend I have noticed and LOVED, is litter pick up along the way! Picking up trash as you play Pokemon Go is a great idea that I am hoping more people will pick up on, not only because it benefits your town, but it benefits the Earth as a whole. On average humans individually produce about 4.40 pounds of trash per day, 220 million tons per year, which is a LOT; if we all chip in just a little bit, and help clean up the roads along our journey's we may be able to realize a solution to this problem! Don't forget to catch em' all, and clean it all!
